Matching Other States

Let's strengthen Maine's economy

Maine Needs a Model for Success if It Hopes to Match Other States

We need to work together to create a model of success for our state. Right now, Maine isn’t in the running when it comes to competing with successful states.

A Formula for Success

We can make the necessary changes by working together to attract investors, become more competitive, and training and education for all Mainers. By doing so, we’ll become prosperous and create more innovators.

Attract Investors

In order to attract investors, we need to create a business-friendly environment. This includes making our regulatory costs and tax burden more competitive, improving infrastructure, and investing in workforce development.

Leveraging Our Resources

Maine has many natural resources that can be used to our advantage. For example, we have forests that can be used for timber and paper products, fishing areas that can provide seafood, and minerals that can be mined. These resources need to be managed sustainably, but offer huge potential to grow foundational jobs

We need to develop these resources in a sustainable way so that they benefit Maine residents now and in the future.

Ensuring Quality Education

It’s important that all Maine students have access to quality education. This means providing adequate funding for schools, hiring qualified teachers, and ensuring that students are learning the skills they need to succeed in the workforce. But it also means reinventing education for the 21st Century–developing innovative, creative ways to deliver quality results more efficiently and at lower cost.

It’s important to note that Maine currently has a problem with too many workers exiting the workforce for retirement and not enough younger workers replacing them.

vWithout a strategy in place to address this issue, Maine will continue to lose jobs. And if this isn’t remedied in the near future, it could result in more businesses closing down or leaving the state.

To prevent this from happening, we need to ensure that our education system is preparing students for the jobs of the future. This includes teaching them the skills they need to be successful in the workforce and providing them with opportunities to gain experience in their chosen field.

Creating Innovators for Maine’s Future

In order to create innovators, we need to invest in research and development. This includes supporting startups, investing in new technologies, and making sure that Maine companies are able to compete in the global marketplace.

Furthermore, we need to create an environment that supports risk-taking and innovation. This means reducing regulations, encouraging entrepreneurship, and supporting the development of new ideas.

Making Maine a Success

Maine has all the ingredients for success. We just need to work together to make it happen. We can make Maine a success story by working together and implementing these changes.
